Is HTML A Coding Language?

HTML is a markup language that you use to create your content for the internet. You should use HTML for the structure of content, while using CSS for the styling.

In this post, we’ll talk about is HTML a coding language?

Let’s talk about it!

Is HTML A Coding Language?

HTML is indeed a coding language that displays webpages.

HTML is a language which is used to define the structure of webpages. It is a markup language. For example, HTML is used to define how the text and images look on the webpage. It is a declarative programming language. However, it lacks in functionality compared to a full-fledged programming language.

Front-end developers use HTML to write the content of webpages. However, back-end developers use HTML to write code behind the webpages.

HTML stands for HyperText Markup Language which is a markup language used to describe documents on the World Wide Web.

HTML is used to describe the content and presentation of a web document, and is the fundamental technology of the internet. HTML documents are always written in the format of <html> and </html> tags. The html elements are used to define the content and structure of the web page, while the html attributes are used to define the style and behavior of the web page. These attributes are placed between the tags, and the html code is then saved in a file with the extension .html just like the other programming languages extensions like (.py, .php etc), which is then opened using a browser, like Mozilla Firefox, Chrome or Safari.

1.      Kind Of

If you’re a web designer or a programmer, you must have come across the term HTML as a programming language.

But to many people, HTML is not a programming language, and that’s why they end up getting confused. In reality, HTML is kind of a programming language, but it’s not a full-fledged programming language.

If you look up the definition of a programming language, you’ll find that HTML is not a programming language. However, it does have a lot of programming language-like features. The point is, HTML is not the same as other programming languages.

2.      Tag Based

Tag based language is a computer programming language which is based on tags. In HTML, there’s a start-tag and an end-tag.

Tags define the structure of the document and the relationship between its different parts. It is a markup language and it is used for rendering the web page.

3.      Updates

Just like other programming languages, HTML too gets updates.

HTML (Hyper Text Markup Language) is one of the most popular markup language used for a website.

HTML is a markup language for creating web pages and web applications. HTML was created in 1993. The first HTML was called HTML 1.0. This version of HTML was used in the earliest days.

Since then, many new versions are launched:

  • HTML 3.2
